Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Corporate Accounting is a pivotal role within the Finance department at Choice Hotels. This position is based in a hybrid work environment, allowing for flexibility while contributing to the financial integrity of one of the largest lodging franchisors globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to a team of three accountants.
  • Oversee corporate accounting operations, including domestic financial closing processes, reconciliations, and the establishment of accounting policies.
  • Review and analyze financial data, cash flow statements, and footnotes to ensure accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and internal policies, including the maintenance of critical controls.
  • Manage stock-based compensation accounting, equity, and revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Contribute to technology upgrades and process improvements, particularly in finance transformation and ERP implementation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience, with an active CPA license or candidacy.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 6 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Familiarity with general ledger software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong understanding of operational accounting and U.S. GAAP, with experience in financial reporting and accounting policy.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical decision-making in all professional interactions.
  • Experience with financial statement audits or public company audits is preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and openness to new ideas, with a willingness to learn and share knowledge.

Team Structure

This leadership role involves managing a team of three accountants and reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate Accounting. Collaboration with cross-functional finance and business departments is essential for success.
