Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is mandatory.

Position Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in general accounting is essential.
  • Experience with Unanet software is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in billing within an automated accounting system is required.
  • Familiarity with project/GL coding for accounts payable and credit card transactions is beneficial.
  • Experience in government contracting is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will undertake a variety of general accounting support tasks, including:

  • Monthly invoicing for clients.
  • Validation of billing data against contracts and Government Task Orders.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of supporting data for invoices and other accounting documents.
  • Updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers, and records of financial transactions, entering data into the system using established programs.
  • Compiling data and preparing various reports, along with assigned monthly closing journal entries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciling records with internal staff and external vendors or clients.
  • Recommending solutions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Investigating questionable data.
  • Adhering to federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Compiling statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports related to accounts receivable.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Providing backup for Payroll processing.
  • Assisting with Accounts Payable processing.
  • Supporting the Payroll/AP Administrator in comparing vendor/subcontractor contract values against vendor invoices.
  • Assisting the Payroll/AP Administrator with reviewing data and entries.
  • Maintaining contracts and projects.
