Westfield Specialty represents a new division within Westfield Group, a well-established insurer with a rich history of providing personal and commercial lines insurance. This segment commenced operations with a diverse range of specialty products, which are expected to grow over time.

Position SUMMARY

We are looking for an Underwriting Support Specialist to become a vital part of our Financial Lines team. This role is essential in reviewing and assessing incoming transactions to ensure they meet the required standards of completeness, accuracy, and quality. The Underwriting Support Specialist will handle various tasks related to new business submissions, renewals, and endorsements, ensuring timely and precise processing.

  • Consistently reviews and follows departmental guidelines to maintain accuracy, suggesting improvements as necessary.
  • Fosters underwriting relationships by providing prompt responses to service inquiries.
  • Keeps detailed records of all correspondence with both internal and external stakeholders, including daily updates on pending transactions.
  • Ensures adherence to state regulations concerning cancellations and reinstatements.
  • Collects and evaluates underwriting data, including experience reports, audits, loss control documentation, financial statements, and loss history.
  • Manages updates to internal reports as directed by management.
  • Engages in peer review and quality assurance processes as required.
  • Participates in special projects and company initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting assistance, with a focus on Financial Lines being advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, specific product coverages, policy forms, pricing methodologies, regulatory compliance, and insurance systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with advanced skills.
  • Excellent desk management capabilities along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume work environment.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and mathematical proficiency.
  • Capable of thriving in a team-oriented setting while managing various deadlines effectively.
  • A self-motivated individual who is enthusiastic about independent learning and research.
