Job Title: Database Administrator

Join the State of Montana's Department of Administration as a Database Administrator and be part of a team that's modernizing state government through innovative IT projects.

About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Database Administrator to support state agencies with the deployment of state-standard database technology. As a key member of our team, you'll play a critical role in streamlining access to vital data, powering data warehouses like Snowflake, and optimizing critical Oracle databases.

Responsibilities
  • Database administration, backup and recovery strategies, database development, technical support, and software patch management and maintenance of relational database systems for mission-critical operations.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions about database design, provide maintenance and tuning, as well as diagnose and troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Lead database architecture design and integration efforts, as well as innovative approaches to solve complex problems.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years' experience working in a variety of database environments.
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience utilizing Oracle database administration concepts, RedHat Linux operating system, SQL and PL/SQL, and related tools and technologies such as RMAN and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
