This position is part of the State of Montana's team, responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of the department's information systems. The Information Protection Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the appropriate operational information protection posture for each system.

- Evaluate real or suspected events within the agency and develop policies for referring investigations to other qualified entities.
- Principles and practices of computer science and information systems administration.
- State and department information technology processes.
- Information security techniques and processes, including database auditing techniques and programs.
- Computer equipment and technology systems used by the department.
- Disaster recovery planning and implementation.
- Network and database administration.
- Customer service principles and processes, including customer needs assessment.
- Evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Meeting quality standards for services.
- Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools and techniques.
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations.

- Microsoft programs and other database applications.
- Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
- Work hours may exceed 40 hours from time to time, including weekends.

- Lifting is infrequent, less than 15 pounds.
- Some travel may be required, must have a valid driver's license.
This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.
Training Assignment:This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
