Family Support Specialist

Position Overview: The Family Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering case management services aimed at ensuring the safety, stability, and overall wellbeing of children and their families.
Required Qualifications: A bachelor's or master's degree in social work, community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied family and youth services, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, early childhood education, or psychology from an accredited institution.
Professional Experience: Prior experience in child and family services is highly desirable.
Certification Requirements: Licensure by the Kansas BSRB is preferred. A valid driver's license and auto insurance are mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
Strive to comprehend and support the unique experiences and needs of families. Address various needs, including developmental stages, trauma, socioeconomic factors, gender, race, ethnicity, and language. Foster and sustain strong relationships with clients, placement providers, DCF, colleagues, and other community stakeholders. Share pertinent and appropriate information with families and involved professionals in a timely manner. Respond promptly to all inquiries and requests. Deliver home and community-based services tailored to clients' needs. Services may include observing caregiver-child interactions, maintaining existing and fostering new connections, coordinating resources, providing on-call crisis intervention, safety planning, skill development, transporting clients, and conducting drug screenings to ensure safety and wellbeing. Utilize information obtained through assessments to advocate effectively for the client's best interests. Advocacy efforts may involve providing court testimony, attending school meetings, and coordinating mental health services. Complete all necessary documentation in a thorough and timely manner. Documentation may include case logs, comprehensive assessments, court reports, and social histories.Join Our Team:
