Imaging Support Specialist

Position Overview
The Imaging Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting radiology technologists with patient care during imaging procedures. This position involves ensuring that patients are well-prepared and comfortable before, during, and after their imaging appointments.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the necessary clinical and technical skills required for the assigned department.
- Provide continuous observation of patients in the care area, promptly reporting any changes in their condition to the appropriate medical staff.
- Facilitate communication between nursing staff and radiology personnel, confirming patient appointments and screening for eligibility.
- Access and review patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) prior to examinations, ensuring all relevant data is available for technologists.
- Assist radiology technologists by entering necessary information into the operational system.
- Maintain a focus on patient-centered care, aligning with the mission and values of the healthcare institution.
- Prepare imaging rooms efficiently for patient examinations, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Transport patients to and from the radiology department, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit.
- Attend to patient needs during transport and in the imaging area, reporting any condition changes to medical staff.
- Complete daily tasks in an organized and accurate manner, assisting with scheduling for both inpatient and outpatient services.
- Educate patients and their families about radiology procedures, enhancing their understanding and comfort.
- Retrieve and manage electronic patient folders, accessing reports and relevant data as needed.
- Monitor supply levels and assist in ordering necessary materials.
- Report any equipment issues promptly to ensure operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to the needs of the department.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Up to 6 months of experience in a healthcare setting, such as acute care, emergency department, or long-term care.
- Experience as a Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Licensed Practical Nurse is advantageous.
Licensure and Certification
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in using computer systems for data retrieval and management.
