Job Overview

Position Summary: The Family Assessment Specialist will collaborate with the case management team to create tailored evaluations that highlight strengths, resources, and capabilities, while empowering families to take initiative in formulating their case plans.

Location: Olathe/Lawrence

Educational Requirements: A bachelor's or master's degree in social work, community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied family and youth sciences, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, early childhood education, or psychology from an accredited institution.

Professional Experience: A minimum of two years of experience working with children and families is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.

Licensure/Certification: A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required. Licensure from the KS BSRB is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family-centered; community-connected; and reliant on evidence-based practices to support contract services in Kansas.
  • Collaborate with the case management team to conduct Family-Based Assessments and necessary evidence-based evaluations.
  • Work with the case management team to organize the Initial Team meeting promptly after referral.
  • Facilitate the Icebreaker meeting between the caregiver and placement resource.
  • Provide training and/or consultation for the case management team regarding the completion or scoring of evidence-based assessments.
  • Implement the Safe & Connected Framework during the initial case planning process.
  • Offer training and/or consultation for the case management team on the facilitation of the Safe & Connected Framework.
