The student assistant will collaborate closely with experienced staff, gaining practical experience while performing tasks in accordance with the guidelines of University Enterprises and other relevant agencies. This position also involves handling confidential information, fostering a deeper understanding of professional standards and practices.

Employment Conditions

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited student role. Employment is contingent upon mutual agreement between University Enterprises and the employee, allowing either party to terminate the employment relationship at any time.

Pre-employment background checks may include verification of employment history, professional references, criminal records, educational credentials, or DMV clearance. Applicants must successfully complete all required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises and the hiring department.

Students are not permitted to hold more than one position at University Enterprises simultaneously or work in multiple accounts within a pay period. Those considering a transition to a different student assistant role should notify their supervisor in writing with at least a week's notice.

University Enterprises only employs candidates who reside and work in the state of California. All work must be performed within California throughout the duration of employment.

Prerequisites

Applicants must be enrolled as college students during the regular academic terms at an accredited institution listed in our affiliation directory. Students must maintain enrollment in a minimum of six semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates, and four semester units or six quarter units for graduate students. The declared major must align with the fields specified in the job posting.

Accounting, Business Administration, Communication Studies, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Management, Management Information Systems, Public Policy Administration.

Work Schedule

Flexible workdays and hours are available, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM, with the final schedule determined by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Complete each term with the required unit load for undergraduate and graduate classifications.
  • Possess and maintain a valid California driver's license.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibit excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Individuals who have been dependent children in foster care, homeless youth, or formerly incarcerated youth are encouraged to apply and will receive priority consideration.
  • Prior experience in a professional or administrative capacity is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with various office-wide functions, including personnel, accounting, budgeting, procurement, facility management, telecommunications, training, and software projects, by participating in meetings, project workgroups, and maintaining project management plans.
  • Provide timely and sensitive customer service to stakeholders by researching and responding to inquiries accurately and tactfully.
  • Support the development of reports and procedures related to project planning and implementation.
  • Engage in special projects to enhance the efficiency of the Admin Division by conducting research, gathering data, and making recommendations.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the OAH by completing specific tasks to address issues and ensure administrative needs are met.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, and perform manual tasks. Daily use of a personal computer and various office software applications is required. Occasional travel for meetings and training may be necessary.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a hybrid environment, requiring professional attire suitable for an office setting. The role allows for telework three days a week, in accordance with the telework policy, with in-office attendance as needed.
