Job Overview

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting maintenance personnel and engineers in executing both routine and urgent maintenance operations. This position is designed for individuals eager to embark on a career path in industrial maintenance or production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct daily cleaning and organization throughout the facility.
  2. Assist in maintaining shop organization and efficiency.
  3. Support infrastructure enhancements within the maintenance shop.
  4. Keep tools, parts, and supplies organized and accessible for maintenance activities.
  5. Collaborate with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and repair machinery and equipment.
  6. Participate in routine preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting various manufacturing equipment.
  7. Assist in the upkeep of facility infrastructure, covering areas such as lighting, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and other necessary repairs.
  8. Operate various equipment, including power tools, forklifts, pressure washers, and other vehicles.
  9. Help prepare and finalize maintenance reports and documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with supervisors and related departments.
  • Utilize basic math skills, including understanding fractions and angles.
  • Read and interpret measurements using tape measures and angle finders.
  • Lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in various physical positions, including kneeling and lying down.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Use various shop tools, including both power and manual wrenches.
  • Preferred training in forklift and overhead crane operation.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Follow directions from supervisors or managers respectfully.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection when necessary.

Experience and Qualifications

Minimal experience (0-1 year) is required. Candidates must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations, ensuring safety for themselves and others.

Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with relevant experience.

Training and Skills

Preferred training includes forklift operation, crane operation, ERP systems, and quality management systems.

Language and Communication Skills

Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions effectively.

Mathematical Skills

Basic mathematical concepts are necessary for this role.

Physical Requirements

Regularly required to stand, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and lift over 50 pounds.

Work Environment
