Kavaliro is collaborating with a client in North Carolina to find a Systems Engineer Specialist for a remote role. This position involves the formulation and definition of specifications for intricate operating systems. The role also includes modifying and maintaining complex operating systems and associated products utilizing vendor releases and manufacturer utilities. The candidate will evaluate and recommend new hardware and software components to enhance the operation of the Data Center.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and oversee the technical performance, reliability, and efficiency of mainframe-based hardware and software that supports all current and future operating systems and applications of the System.
  • Conduct audits of infrastructure application servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, and procedures.
  • Provide responsive support to the application development and operational activities within the Information Services department.
  • Report on system performance, make recommendations, and take necessary actions to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain testing mechanisms to verify the capabilities of incoming software and hardware releases to ensure viability prior to implementation.
  • Advise staff on proper data administration and program design to enhance the capabilities of existing programs and systems.
  • Manage all aspects of projects, including budget development, scope definition, timeline preparation, resource estimation and management, and status reporting. Plan projects using standard System methods to create manpower and cost estimates.
  • Support System Engineers and IS Management from a technical standpoint.
  • Assist with technology applications such as load testing, software distribution, monitoring, and job scheduling packages.
Physical Requirements:
  • This position is subject to high visibility through exposure to Administration.
  • Work duties will require a high degree of proficiency in verbal and written communications.
  • Availability for call-back support on a regular basis is required, with extensive evening and weekend hours during conversions and/or training.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of experience in installing and supporting sophisticated information systems in a healthcare environment utilizing client/server technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of job-related systems such as Unix, Linux, and Windows; proficiency in script writing is preferred.
  • General knowledge of networks and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Formal training in various information systems technology is preferred.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
