The Financial Operations Analyst is tasked with examining and enhancing the financial workflows for Delta Health. The primary goal is to boost revenue generation, minimize expenses, and improve overall financial performance. This role will also assist in all facets of insurance billing, as well as claims follow-up and collections.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Analyzes financial data related to revenue generation, billing, collections, and reimbursement processes. Identifies trends, patterns, and discrepancies to provide insights and recommendations for enhancement.
  • Supports business solutions within the Revenue Cycle, including charge services/revenue integrity, health information management, and patient accounting. Aids in the implementation and ongoing support of revenue cycle applications.
  • Ensures the smooth flow of revenue through the organization's financial systems. Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) such as accounts receivable, denials, and cash collection to identify areas for improvement.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline revenue cycle processes and implements strategies to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and system enhancements.
  • Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA and coding guidelines. This position will interact with the appropriate third-party payers for all unpaid claims, including denied claims and those requiring appeal, non-payment, overpayments, and underpayments.
  • Takes action to resolve outstanding accounts receivable (A/R) to a zero balance, preferably through the collection of full payment. Reviews open A/R accounts and takes appropriate action on those accounts.
  • Ensures efficient processing of billing claims, insurance follow-up, collection activities, and denials. Assists in achieving cash collection goals by reviewing, completing, and submitting necessary documentation based on payer requirements.
  • Acts as support staff for various departments and external payers by fostering positive relationships with managed care organizations, outside agencies, and clinical areas within the organization. Reviews and responds to correspondence and inquiries generated by third-party payers. Provides medical record copies and other pertinent information to the appropriate sources.
  • Works through exception and rejection work queues and reviews EOBs for correct contract payment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or statistics preferred.
  • Certified public accounting (CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a revenue cycle analyst or in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue cycle data analysis and interpretation.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting practices and industry regulations.
  • Familiarity with CMS 1500 and UB04 Billing Forms, EOBs, claims, coding, and charges is required.
  • Understanding of third-party and insurance companies' operating procedures, regulations, and billing requirements; i.e., Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
  • Effective customer service skills with the ability to interact with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to prioritize work, managing daily and multiple tasks to completion within the time allotted, while working as part of a team in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
