The Cement Plant Operations Manager position is integral to our facility and reports directly to the Vice President of Cement Operations.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the plant's safety initiatives to foster a secure working environment, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.

2. Engage in the formulation of the plant's strategic objectives while overseeing daily production and maintenance operations to enhance overall performance.

3. Contribute to the capital and operational planning of the plant while effectively managing budgetary expenditures.
4. Organize, coordinate, and direct all production efforts to achieve operational goals and targets.
5. Conduct daily analyses of plant operations to identify and recommend enhancements in production, quality, or efficiency.

6. Align production activities with quarry, maintenance, and quality control to maintain optimal plant performance.

7. Supervise the team to ensure production targets are met.
8. Oversee maintenance operations to guarantee that equipment is functioning at peak efficiency.
9. Guide maintenance managers to reduce equipment downtime.
10. Plan and manage the annual plant shutdown process.
11. Ensure the implementation of maintenance initiatives.

12. Cultivate a collaborative environment among plant staff to address operational methods and enhance production quality and efficiency.

13. Identify training requirements for plant personnel and ensure appropriate training is provided.

14. Support the company's procurement initiatives and ensure compliance with purchasing policies and contract management procedures.

15. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to stay informed about customer needs and concerns.
16. Oversee the resolution of issues related to production and quality.
17. Participate in community engagement activities to promote positive plant-community relations.
18. Work closely with the Quality Control Department to meet product specifications and production objectives.
19. Ensure compliance with plant policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
20. Responsible for the effective execution of the plant's on-call schedule, participating as necessary.

21. Foster a culture of continuous improvement in production quality and efficiency.

Essential Experience and Skills:
- A degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

- Expertise in synchronizing production activities with quarry, maintenance, and quality control to ensure optimal plant performance.

- Proven ability to manage teams and meet production requirements.
- Strong technical knowledge of cement manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Central Control operations, including process control systems in preheater plants, with experience in alternative fuels being advantageous.

- Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills acquired through progressively responsible roles in a unionized environment.

- Capacity to make critical decisions under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge of process equipment interlocking and mill liner installation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and other relevant software.

- Ability to analyze financial statements, prepare budgets, and manage costs effectively.

- Strong interpersonal and motivational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a Total Quality environment.
