Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define and develop comprehensive business, functional, and non-functional requirements that align with Queensland Treasury's technology initiatives.
  • Engage with relevant parties to facilitate project planning, establish timelines, and outline project deliverables and milestones.
  • Oversee the management of both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project commitments are met within specified timeframes.
  • Work closely with business units to identify support needs for new technological solutions.
  • Partner with the Solution Architecture team to translate business requirements into technical design principles, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Conduct workshops, discussions, and user interviews to gather and document requirements, user stories, and business process maps.
  • Utilize a collaborative design approach to synthesize user research findings into functional requirements and wireframes.
  • Analyze user requirements and collaborate with technical teams to ensure accurate interpretation of business needs.
  • Document 'to-be' business processes and develop strategies to minimize the impact of business changes.
  • Conduct options analyses with business and Solution Architecture teams to propose viable solutions for further evaluation.
  • Contribute to the testing and validation of user and business requirements as necessary.
  • Facilitate timely decision-making by acting as a change initiative enabler.
  • Prepare and contribute to change requests, business cases, and other necessary documentation for project approvals.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies, and work with stakeholders to implement mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular updates to the divisional leadership team regarding project progress.
  • Ensure interdependencies between projects are clearly mapped and understood by all key stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant documentation, including technical designs and business process maps.
  • Support the PMO in enhancing its business analysis capabilities, including the establishment of standards and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required that align with the technical competencies of the role.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in information technology, business analysis, or a related field.
  • Relevant business analysis certification or accreditation (e.g., BABOK, IIBA).

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in business analysis or a related discipline.
Experience

Essential:

  • Extensive experience leading technical business initiatives in a project environment, particularly within medium to large organizations.
  • Experience applying business analysis frameworks and methodologies.
  • Involvement in business and technology transformation activities, including the implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and project management methodologies.
  • Proven ability to engage and manage stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with project management practices that support software delivery.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement processes related to technology acquisitions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure technologies.
