About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Howmet Aerospace in Carson, California. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for directing manufacturing teams to achieve efficient operation of manufacturing activities, maintaining a customer focus on quality and on-time delivery, and supervising activities of Manufacturing Managers, Production Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, Leads, and Operators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing operations business plans, including program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
  • Provide input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
  • Establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
  • Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
  • Serve as subject matter experts to senior business leaders enabling project advancement through interaction across multi-level and functions.
  • Lead team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
  • Manage Manufacturing, Heat Treat, and Plating with 100+ hourly production operators.
  • Implement company policies such as attendance, overtime, safety, environmental, etc., and direct the application of such policies to the product group's operation.
  • Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration from four-year college or university.
  • 8-10 years related experience and/or training in aerospace industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MRP System Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word (Microsoft Office) Word Processing software.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
