We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Carson, California. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for directing manufacturing teams to achieve efficient operation of our manufacturing activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aerospace manufacturing, with experience in directing manufacturing teams, developing business plans, and establishing production and quality control standards. You will also be responsible for providing guidance to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.
- Provide input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
- Establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
- Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of shop operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving production data for reports.
- Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Serve as subject matter experts to senior business leaders enabling project advancement through interaction across multi-level and functions.
- Leads team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
- Will manage Manufacturing, Heat Treat, and Plating with 100+ hourly production operators.
- Implements company policies such as attendance, overtime, safety, environmental, etc., and directs the application of such policies to the product group's operation.
- Trains and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
Benefits:
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays, and vacation. The salary range for this position is $154K to $182K.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration from four-year college or university.
- 8-10 years related experience and/or training in aerospace industry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Knowledge of MRP System Manufacturing software, Excel Spreadsheet software, and Word (Microsoft Office) Word Processing software.
