As a vital member of our Finance team, you will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Customer Programs to manage external contracts and support innovative business initiatives within the New Glenn Business Unit. New Glenn, named in honor of astronaut John Glenn, is designed as a heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of transporting people and cargo to Earth orbit and beyond. With a reusable first stage intended for 25 missions, New Glenn is set to pave the way for future space exploration.

In your role as Finance Principal, you will deliver essential analysis and insights, enhance performance and predictability, and provide financial leadership for customer programs. Working alongside product line leadership, you will engage in collaborative problem-solving to drive business success. As a proactive self-starter, you will contribute to the development of a robust financial infrastructure and scalable finance function equipped with the right personnel, processes, and tools to support program growth.

The selected candidate will play a crucial role in the New Glenn Finance Leadership team, spearheading initiatives aimed at improving the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of insights shared with senior and executive leadership.

We seek an individual who can leverage their technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and commitment to excellence to make a meaningful impact on safe human spaceflight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a business partner and advisor to the Vice President of Customer Programs.
  • Deliver precise and timely financial data and recommendations to facilitate business operations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide relevant insights to Product Line leadership.
  • Formulate and present financial commitments, business plans, and investment returns for product lines.
  • Establish cost and reporting frameworks to support program execution while ensuring effective financial controls.
  • Work with Accounting to assess and document revenue recognition requirements.
  • Analyze and mitigate variances in program financial performance.
  • Provide expertise to the Blue Origin Finance community regarding the setup and execution of external contracts and customer engagements.
  • Assist in customer proposals and conduct analysis/modeling of new business opportunities and related requirements.
  • Possess eligibility for TS/SCI and familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements and financial processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Finance Business Partner in support of external programs within the Aerospace and Defense sector.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in interpreting financial documents and performance metrics.
  • Strategic and results-driven collaborator capable of leading large-scale projects and adapting priorities as needed.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills, with proficiency in Excel financial modeling.
  • Experience with ERP systems, financial and operational databases, and accounting software.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional finance experience, including roles in R&D and manufacturing.
  • Ability to foster trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee/asylee.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in Research & Development and Manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with Deltek, Coupa, and Planful software tools.

Compensation for on-site applicants will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
