Accountant II

Overview

AAA Life Insurance Company is looking for a dedicated Accountant II. This role involves overseeing, managing, and analyzing financial activities that impact general ledger accounts. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating entries into the company’s general ledger system and other relevant administrative systems. Furthermore, the Accountant II will handle and evaluate both internal and external reinsurance transactions while ensuring accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts.



Key Responsibilities
  • Constructs financial models utilizing the OneStream system as the main tool for generating financial statements and conducting analyses.
  • Maintains subsidiary ledgers for corporate activities in line with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Prepares monthly analyses and reports.
  • Examines computer outputs to identify discrepancies and errors, initiating corrective measures to uphold the integrity of the ledger system. Ensures that account balances are accurately reported and that reconciling items are resolved promptly.
  • Balances and audits accounting transactions across multi-company and multi-state operations.
  • Addresses issues affecting reconciliations with various business units, departments, and financial institutions.
  • Engages in the modification of new and existing data systems to guarantee compliance with specifications and financial integrity.
  • Prepares audit schedules for internal and independent external audits.
  • Develops and maintains documentation and procedures related to job functions.
  • Prepares and oversees reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Processes and formulates complex financial calculations for analysis or input into the general ledger.
  • Reconciles deposit and disbursement accounts with bank statements and corporate product systems.
  • Handles and evaluates internal and external reinsurance transactions.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Two to four years of experience in an accounting department.
  • Proficient in data processing.
  • Experience in balancing ledgers to support systems.
  • Skilled in account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Ability to prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and/or SAP.
  • Familiarity with automated accounting systems.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet software.
  • Adept at researching and analyzing data.
  • Effective communication skills in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within project teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends to meet deadlines.
