Overview

AAA Life Insurance Company is in search of an Accountant II. This role is essential for maintaining, controlling, analyzing, reconciling, and investigating the financial activities of the company that impact general ledger accounts. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating the input into the company’s general ledger system and other relevant administrative systems.


The Accountant II will also handle and analyze both internal and external reinsurance transactions while ensuring the reconciliation of general ledger accounts is completed accurately.



Key Responsibilities
  • Develop financial models utilizing the OneStream system as the primary tool for generating financial statements and conducting analyses.
  • Maintain subsidiary ledgers for company activities in compliance with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), while preparing monthly analyses and reports.
  • Examine computer outputs to identify discrepancies and errors, initiating corrective actions to uphold the integrity of the ledger system.
  • Audit and balance accounting transactions for multi-company and multi-state operations.
  • Resolve issues affecting reconciliations with various business units, departments, and financial institutions.
  • Engage in the modification of both new and existing data systems to ensure adherence to specifications and financial integrity.
  • Prepare audit schedules for internal and independent external audits.
  • Develop and sustain job documentation and procedural guidelines.
  • Prepare and uphold reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • Process and formulate complex financial calculations for analysis or input into the general ledger.
  • Reconcile deposit and disbursement accounts with bank statements and corporate product systems.
  • Process and analyze internal and external reinsurance transactions.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Two to four years of experience in an accounting department.
  • Proficiency in data processing.
  • Experience in balancing ledgers to support systems.
  • Skills in account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Experience in preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and/or SAP.
  • Familiarity with automated accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  • Aptitude for researching and analyzing data.
  • Effective communication skills in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on project teams.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends to meet deadlines.
