Position Overview

SAIC is looking for a Lead Network Engineer to provide expertise in support of the Tactical Network (TACNET) initiative. This role will be based onsite and is crucial for delivering enhanced remote assistance to Navy Fleet Customers.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary to meet customer needs, including both CONUS and OCONUS assignments. Off-hours support could also be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project management activities, offering support and direction to subject matter experts (SMEs) involved in Enhanced Distance Support (EDS) and remote technical assistance for US Navy vessels.
  • Collaborate with Active-Duty Military personnel, government employees, and external partners to devise effective solutions for NAVWAR PMW160 fielded Tactical Networks.
  • Evaluate challenges within an enterprise LAN shipboard setting to identify optimal resolutions.
  • Engage with US Navy clients to ensure the effective maintenance of Navy Afloat networks and their associated components.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics, ensuring comprehensive data collection and customer communication.
  • Maintain and update work schedules as necessary to meet project demands.
  • Assess current operations and organize training sessions to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Review daily reports and status updates to track task progress and ensure compliance with project timelines.
  • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines to promote best practices.
  • Prepare progress reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with TACNET Programs of Record Systems, including ADNS, CANES, CENTRIXS, ISNS, SCI Networks, VIXS, or WRBS.
  • Experience in supporting Network/Server/IT functions within an enterprise framework.
  • Demonstrated management or leadership experience in the IT sector.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret Clearance is mandatory.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Certifications:

  • Current DoD IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CASP+ is required.
  • Ability to obtain an additional certification (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, VCP) within six months of hire.
