Position Overview:
We are looking for an Assistant Safety Director who is passionate about enhancing community safety and ensuring a secure work environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and technical support to site management on safety-related matters.
- Receive assignments focused on broad objectives from the GBU SH&E Director in collaboration with Project Management.
- Review and interpret safety regulations and standards, offering assistance as needed.
- Monitor project safety performance and conduct thorough audits and inspections.
Specific Duties:
- Oversee and assign technical supervision of safety performance and qualifications.
- Conduct safety audits by analyzing safety records and performing inspections across various projects.
- Assist in coordinating medical care and case management for employees injured on the job.
- Review loss control reports and collaborate with management on compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain a comprehensive Site Safety Log documenting all safety and security matters.
- Designate a Site Competent Person for projects with multiple work locations to manage safety effectively.
- Develop and implement Parsons' Environment Safety Health and Risk Program (ESHARP) across all project sites.
- Provide field-level support to projects within the assigned region as necessary.
- Advise sector managers on SH&E regulations, reporting requirements, and training.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and ensure compliance with internal reporting and workers' compensation procedures.
- Facilitate the collection and maintenance of SH&E-related data for all business units.
- Keep corporate leadership informed of significant developments in safety and health.
- Support business development efforts with proposal data as needed.
- Represent Parsons at national and international safety conferences.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Over 10 years of relevant experience in Health and Safety, including supervisory roles.
- Completion of the 40-hour NYC-Department of Buildings Site Safety Manager Course.
- Completion of the 30-hour OSHA construction safety and health course.
- Active membership in the American Society of Safety Professionals.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulations, along with strong communication skills.
- Ability to perform in a managerial capacity is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification.
Clearance Requirements:
This position does not require any specific clearance.
