Job Title: Library/Media Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library/Media Specialist to join our team at the Sustainability Academy in Burlington School District. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing students with an enriched Learning Center environment, promoting intellectual growth, and supporting the integration of technology across the curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Learning Center program that fosters academic excellence and promotes a love of learning.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills in integrating technology into their teaching practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop curricular models and resources that support the integration of technology and promote information literacy.
  • Manage the school library and media resources, ensuring they are accessible and relevant to students' needs.

Qualifications:

  • Vermont Educators License or eligibility for licensure.
  • Endorsement as a Library Media Specialist or eligibility for a Vt Provisional License.
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
  • Experience in overseeing a school library or school-wide literacy initiative.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students, including those with disabilities and English language learners.
  • Training or experience in providing technology professional development for faculty.
  • Training or experience in information literacy curriculum and its integration into K-12 curriculum.

Benefits and Terms:

  • Salary: As per the collective bargaining agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association.
  • School Year: 10 months, 187 workdays (based on start date), 7.75 hours per day/38.75 hours per week.
  • Benefits: Eligible on start date, 30 days to enroll in coverage from start date.
  • Paid Time: Sick Time/Personal Time as per the collective bargaining agreement.
