Senior Systems Test Engineer

Curtiss-Wright's PacStar Business unit is on the lookout for a seasoned Engineer who possesses a comprehensive understanding of x86 server architectures and hardware. You should be proficient in the testing, qualification, and benchmarking of CPU, GPU, and Storage systems across various platforms including Windows, Linux, and VMware ESXi. Your role will involve collaboration with our multidisciplinary product engineering teams to provide data center-class capabilities to our clientele, where size, weight, power (SWAP), and reliability in challenging environments are critical. Our solutions are utilized by military personnel, emergency responders, and forward-thinking commercial organizations globally. This senior engineering role combines practical engineering tasks with both internal and external teamwork.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering teams to develop and implement test plans that assess system performance, validate design specifications, and support the qualification of integrated solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in edge computing, GPU, and storage while representing PacStar with clients and partners.
  • Effectively communicate intricate technologies to diverse audiences.
  • Engage with technical personnel from third-party vendors to troubleshoot technical challenges.
  • Oversee the development of technology demonstrations, ensuring adherence to timelines and providing progress updates to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Conduct demonstrations at industry events, customer engagements, and online platforms.
  • Facilitate the transition of technology to production, including contributions to testing protocols, user manuals, and marketing content.
  • Independently manage project timelines, proactively identifying obstacles or resource needs to ensure successful completion.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, IT, or QA/Validation.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in the following areas:
    • Troubleshooting Intel x86-based hardware systems throughout their lifecycle.
    • Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.
    • Linux environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in the following areas:
    • Developing and executing test cases.
    • Conducting performance, validation, and/or qualification testing for both new and existing products.
  • Strongly desired experience in:
    • Virtualization, Storage, Network, and Systems Integration.
    • VMware, particularly VMware ESXi/vSphere.
    • Networking devices (routers, switches, firewalls; preferably Cisco).
    • Hyperconverged infrastructure.
    • Automation solutions such as Ansible.
    • Implementing new systems through repeatable processes.
    • Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions.
    • Scripting languages like PowerShell or PowerCLI.
  • Industry-recognized certifications are highly desirable:
    • VMware VCP.
    • Cisco CCNA.
    • Microsoft MCSE.
    • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to convey technical details to non-technical team members.
  • Capacity to learn from and mentor colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Self-sufficient professional capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and transport 35 pounds of testing equipment over distances.
  • Proficient in organizing workloads and meeting deadlines.
