Position Overview

WSP is actively seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Hydropower Protection and Controls. This role is integral to our Clean Energy Division, contributing to significant projects aimed at enhancing renewable energy solutions across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of our team, you will engage in various projects that directly address climate change by supporting the development and operation of clean hydropower resources. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Designing protection and control systems for hydropower facilities, including powerhouses and pump stations.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure project success from conception through construction.
  • Conducting engineering assessments, procurement of materials, and quality control reviews.
  • Preparing detailed drawings and specifications in conjunction with the drafting department.
  • Maintaining effective communication with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Traveling for site evaluations and project meetings as necessary.
Your Contributions
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Provide designs that comply with industry standards and WSP policies, including safety and quality assurance.
  • Prepare specifications for equipment procurement and installation.
  • Review designs for compliance and constructability.
  • Engage in site inspections and resolve queries during the construction phase.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Qualifications
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
  • Ability to obtain an engineering license within one year.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and modern power systems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as NEC and IEEE.
  • Proficient in design software, including AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in consulting for renewable energy projects.
  • OSHA safety training and First Aid certification.
