Job Summary

Gastro Care Partners is seeking a skilled Procedure Scheduler to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling routine patient procedures and complicated surgeries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patient appointments for hospital and ambulatory surgery centers, ensuring timely and accurate scheduling.
  • Communicate procedure information and patient instructions to patients and/or family members, including financial obligations.
  • Interview patients to ensure accurate information prior to procedures.
  • Request insurance information from patients to facilitate proper billing procedures.
  • Communicate with providers/physicians regarding scheduling and educational materials for patients.
  • Collaborate with and send physician orders for procedures to endoscopy and surgery centers as required.
  • Schedule surgeries/procedures within established surgical block times with affiliated hospitals.
  • Ensure schedules are accurate and communicate with support staff regarding delays or cancellations.
  • Monitor physician requests throughout the day and notify affected staff and departments as needed.
  • Refer scheduling issues to the appropriate decision-maker and provide problem resolution recommendations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience scheduling surgeries/procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT Coding and working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel or other scheduling software.
