Job Title: Health Unit Coordinator - Cardiac PCU

Banner Health is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Unit Coordinator to join our team in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU). As a Health Unit Coordinator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting the nursing team.

Job Summary:

This is an entry-level position that requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative support functions, including receptionist/clerical duties, patient admissions, and record-keeping. You will also be responsible for coordinating patient appointments, processing discharges, and maintaining adequate levels of office and medical supplies.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support the overall operating efficiency of the unit.
  • Process patient admissions, records bed assignments, and makes face sheets and prints patient labels upon admission.
  • Maintain a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms.
  • Enter pending discharges into the system and coordinate patient appointments for procedures and treatments.
  • Process patient discharges and reconcile supply orders upon delivery.
  • Monitor and track the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment, such as patient ID scanners and laptop computers.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
  • 1 year of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service.
  • Excellent organizational skills, effective human relations, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program and BLS certification.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
