Position Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Construction Engineering Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will undertake complex technical tasks related to field surveying and construction layout, perform engineering calculations, inspect construction activities, and conduct field tests. This role also involves coordinating and overseeing junior inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret project plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methodologies to ensure adherence to legal standards and safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine testing on materials such as concrete and soil.
  • Measure dimensions and confirm the level, alignment, and elevation of structures to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Oversee and coordinate inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Manage, schedule, and maintain the inspection team throughout all project phases.
  • Act on behalf of the client to draft project correspondence, facilitate meetings, and address construction-related issues.
  • Compile and maintain project documentation.
  • Document field observations and calculations.
  • Engage with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to address inquiries.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in computer applications.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (experience may be considered in lieu of education).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Construction Inspection.
  • Certifications as requested by clients.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Senior Engineer Intern classification requires an Engineer-in-Training (EI) certificate.
  • One year of experience in Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) related to roadway or bridge projects.
  • Experience in supervisory roles within construction management or inspection.
  • Ability to act as an Owner's Agent or Responsible in Charge.

  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
  • FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety Certification
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification for Inspectors and Contractors.

Working Conditions

This position involves fieldwork. Candidates should be prepared for physical activities such as bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Work may occur in various weather conditions.
