Position Overview

This role is responsible for organizing patient appointments for medical professionals and ancillary services. It involves gathering essential patient information, including demographics, consents, clinical details, and insurance data. The position requires effective communication with both patients and healthcare staff regarding scheduling matters.

Key Responsibilities

Welcomes patients upon arrival and manages incoming calls, providing information or directing inquiries to the relevant departments. Collects and updates necessary patient demographic data, consents, copays, insurance details, and clinical information, ensuring proper signatures are obtained. Schedules initial and follow-up appointments based on symptoms, physician directives, and collected clinical information, determining the most suitable physician or clinic for each patient. Prepares patient charts for the upcoming business day, verifying insurance coverage and ensuring that referrals for clinic services are current. Collaborates with clinical staff to guarantee accurate ordering and scheduling of patient appointments, managing physician schedules to optimize availability. Maintains communication with patients to keep them informed about their appointment status and addresses any issues that may arise. Monitors individual patient schedules to ensure continuity and appropriateness of appointments. Demonstrates proficiency in reviewing work for accuracy across various systems, including EMR and scheduling software. Maintains a solid understanding of clinical operations, insurance protocols, and relevant medical terminology. Completes all opening and closing procedures daily. Additional tasks include managing reports, reconciling billing documents, scanning, and processing new patient information.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; associate degree in business, nursing, or healthcare administration is advantageous. Experience: At least two years of relevant experience in a healthcare or customer service setting is required. Certifications: None required.
