The Healthcare Support Specialist will assist healthcare providers in the examination and treatment of patients by performing various essential duties.
Key Responsibilities:
The following duties are essential to the role and may be modified as necessary:
- Welcome patients and prepare them for their healthcare visit by gathering medical history and verifying information.
- Document vital signs accurately and maintain electronic medical records, including allergies, medications, and vaccinations.
- Assist providers during examinations and treatments, performing relevant point-of-care tests.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety in treatment rooms and storage areas.
- Maintain a service-oriented approach, treating all patients, visitors, and colleagues with respect and sensitivity.
- Conduct pre-visit planning according to established procedures.
- Manage logs and checks for medical supplies and equipment.
- Respond to voicemails and electronic messages promptly.
- Support front office operations as needed, including patient check-in and appointment scheduling.
- Maintain professional relationships with vendors and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Participate in required training and meetings.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduation from an accredited healthcare program (e.g., Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT) or equivalent experience.
- Current certifications as required by state guidelines.
- Preferred: Nationally recognized certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Proficiency in computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics settings is preferred.
Working Conditions:
This role requires regular standing, using hands for tasks, and effective communication. The ability to lift and move items up to 25 pounds is necessary.
