Position Title: Senior Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with account managers, end users, engineering teams, and vendors to collect relevant information for each estimating project.
  • Analyze field conditions to guide project direction and provide cost estimates for extensive mechanical retrofit initiatives without relying on detailed drawings or specifications.
  • Prepare and submit detailed proposals, scopes of work, project timelines, and engineering solutions that adhere to regulatory standards, alongside comprehensive estimates that encompass various project delivery methods and construction economic principles.
  • Create accurate sales proposals and Excel documents that align with Title 24 requirements.
  • Conduct constructability and code compliance assessments of proposals, estimates, and design documents, effectively communicating any concerns regarding constructability and associated risks.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the California Mechanical Code and local municipal regulations.
  • Compile detailed lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions to clearly convey budget assumptions to clients.
  • Prepare precise estimates for replacement equipment, sheet metal, piping, and labor.
  • Source scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in pricing change orders as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 10 years of experience in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management.
  • At least 4 years of experience in HVAC design and building construction.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering applications, including redline designs, design techniques, and the RFQ & RFP processes for budgeting and bidding on retrofit projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical retrofitting for commercial buildings, hospitals, data centers, K-14 institutions, and universities, particularly in energy projects involving integration, DDC, engineering, commissioning, M&V, and energy analysis.
  • Understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in mechanical retrofitting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods related to mechanical construction, including budgeting, engineering designs, scheduling, and planning.
  • Proven ability to organize, coordinate, and manage all aspects of the bidding process.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work with clients to develop satisfactory solutions to complex challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
