Position Title: Senior Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with account managers, end users, engineering teams, and vendors to gather essential information for estimating tasks.
  • Assess field conditions to guide project direction and provide cost estimates for large-scale mechanical retrofit initiatives without relying on detailed drawings or specifications.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive proposals, scopes of work, project schedules, and engineering solutions that adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Create detailed sales proposals and accurate Excel spreadsheets that align with project requirements and comply with relevant codes.
  • Conduct constructability and code compliance reviews of proposals and design documents, effectively communicating any concerns regarding constructability and associated risks.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the California Mechanical Code and local municipal regulations.
  • Compile thorough lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions to clearly communicate budget assumptions to clients.
  • Generate precise estimates for replacement equipment, sheet metal, piping, and labor.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain scopes of work and pricing.
  • Assist in pricing change orders as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 10 years of experience in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management.
  • At least 4 years of experience in HVAC design and building construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering applications, including design techniques and the RFQ & RFP processes for budgeting and bidding.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical retrofitting in commercial buildings, including hospitals and educational institutions, with a focus on energy projects.
  • Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools related to mechanical retrofitting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods, particularly in mechanical construction and retrofit projects.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage all aspects of the bidding process.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a collaborative team player attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
