Position Title: Senior Estimator

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with various stakeholders, including account managers, end users, and engineering teams, to collect essential information for each estimating project.
  • Analyze field conditions to guide project direction and accurately estimate costs for extensive mechanical retrofit initiatives without relying on detailed drawings or specifications.
  • Prepare and submit detailed proposals, scopes of work, project timelines, and engineering solutions that adhere to regulatory standards, along with comprehensive estimates covering conceptual costs, project delivery methods, and construction economics.
  • Create thorough sales proposals and Excel documents that are precise and align with Title 24 requirements.
  • Conduct constructability and code compliance assessments of proposals, estimates, and design documents, effectively documenting and communicating any concerns regarding constructability and associated risks.
  • Possess a solid understanding of the California Mechanical Code and relevant local municipal regulations.
  • Compile comprehensive lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions to effectively communicate budget assumptions to clients.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for replacement equipment, sheet metal, piping, and labor.
  • Gather scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in pricing change orders as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 10 years of experience in Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Management.
  • At least 4 years of experience in HVAC design and building construction.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering applications, including redline designs, design techniques, and the RFQ & RFP processes for budgeting and bidding on retrofit projects.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical retrofitting for commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, data centers, educational institutions, and energy projects, with a focus on integration, DDC, engineering, commissioning, M&V, and energy analysis.
  • Familiarity with materials, methods, and tools used in mechanical retrofitting.
  • Competent technical knowledge of construction means and methods related to mechanical construction, including budgeting, engineering designs, scheduling, and planning.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and manage all aspects of the bidding process.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work with clients to develop mutually beneficial solutions to complex challenges.
  • Experience collaborating with management and diverse teams, including skilled and unskilled personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
