Position Overview

The Underwriting Assistant plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to the underwriting department. This includes managing various tasks related to binders, policies, endorsements, submissions, and client correspondence for both new and existing Casualty General Liability accounts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the issuance of binders and policies.
  • Process endorsements and maintain related correspondence.
  • Request additional information to address subjectivities, endorsements, and surplus lines taxes.
  • Issue notices of cancellation, non-renewal notifications, or reinstatements within designated authority.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintain documentation within underwriting files.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and utilize sound judgment for effective problem-solving.
  • Provide backup support for clearance processing as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in commercial lines insurance is essential.
  • Familiarity with Commercial Casualty coverages is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Strong analytical and prioritization abilities are necessary.
  • Proven client servicing capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement innovative ideas.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.

This position is office-based and requires in-person attendance.
