Job Title: Lead Engineer

Apex Engineering Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer to join our Transportation Group in Detroit Lakes, MN. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading projects from planning to design and construction, while also contributing to business development efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional engineering services, including planning, design, specifications, and project management.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and project team members to ensure project progress and success.
  • Attend company meetings, project meetings, and client meetings to stay informed and contribute to project discussions.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client interviews.
  • Lead and mentor engineering technicians and other team members to ensure project success.
  • Understand and follow company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineers License preferred or ability to be licensed within 6-12 months in MN required.
  • 5-15 Years of experience working as a Civil Engineer primarily on transportation-focused projects.
  • Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on MnDOT, State-Aid, or County-Aid projects in Minnesota is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with MnDOT Prequalification submittals is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and experience is essential for this position.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a prerequisite.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedules as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one.
