Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

The California Water Data Consortium is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. As the CEO, you will be responsible for leading the strategic, programmatic, financial, and management operations of the organization.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of strategic planning and implementation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a vision. They will also have significant experience building network-based organizations or coalitions, designing and leading processes requiring collaboration and coordination among parties with diverse backgrounds and desired outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Consortium's strategic plan
  • Oversee and expand a talented team of professionals
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Steering Committee to execute the Consortium's mission
  • Build partnerships to advance open water data
  • Provide thought leadership on California's highest impact water data opportunities
Requirements
  • At least ten (10) years of professional experience
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and implement a vision
  • Significant experience building network-based organizations or coalitions
  • Experience designing and leading processes requiring collaboration and coordination among parties with diverse backgrounds and desired outcomes
  • Strong fundraising experience
  • Experience working with various levels of government, nonprofits, and private entities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Sound understanding of protocols and data standards used in natural resources management
  • Extensive knowledge of water resources management and policy
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and advisory groups
