Position Summary:

The Fuel Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and executing the daily maintenance and repair of fuel dispensing systems and associated equipment across multiple locations. This role involves a variety of critical functions to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily maintenance and repair activities of fuel dispensing systems, ensuring timely and professional service based on equipment priority.
  • Manages the fuel maintenance division for a designated number of locations, adhering to budgetary constraints and performance metrics.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, and safety protocols of maintenance technicians.
  • Handles inventory management, including warehouse operations and loss prevention strategies.
  • Reviews maintenance documentation to ensure compliance with established goals, making necessary adjustments to staffing and task assignments.
  • Develops and implements strategies to motivate team members towards achieving operational objectives.
  • Maintains accurate records of time and production metrics.
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to synchronize departmental activities.
  • Facilitates the installation and commissioning of fuel dispensing systems and related apparatus.
  • Provides training to store staff on the proper operation of fuel dispensing equipment.
  • Recommends enhancements and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Oversees the testing of fuel lines from storage units to dispensers.
  • Trains additional fuel service technicians as needed.
  • Ensures thorough documentation of repair work and associated costs, completing necessary forms in a timely manner.
  • Conducts inventory transfer processes to ensure accurate part counts and allocations.
  • Performs duties of supervised personnel as required.
  • Engages in other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience, with at least two current manufacturer training certifications, or the ability to obtain them within 18 months of hire.
  • Certification or demonstrated ability to repair at least two of the following systems: Gilbarco Dispensers, Wayne Dispensers, Schlumberger Dispensers, or Tank Monitoring Systems.
  • Must possess and maintain NVDA calibration certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of gasoline dispensing systems within the operational network.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to interpret equipment schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of service vehicles.
  • Capable of using various hand and power tools effectively.
  • Skilled in utilizing digital multi-meters for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Familiarity with leak detection testing equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with store personnel, customers, and management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting operational manuals and documents.
  • Capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in various formats.
  • Basic computer skills are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated electronic and mechanical proficiency.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

The characteristics of the work environment and physical demands are typical for this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

The noise level is generally moderate. Employees may be exposed to wet or humid conditions, with approximately 80% of work conducted outdoors. Regular physical activities include standing, walking, using hands for manipulation, reaching, climbing, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees may also work at heights exceeding eight feet and handle various materials, including liquids and petroleum products.
