The Dispatch Supervisor will oversee the immediate aspects and conditions of field operations, ensuring adherence to performance standards, managing service interruptions, and coordinating detour management. This role will also supervise BOC Dispatchers, Road Supervisors, and Terminal Supervisors, ensuring they fulfill their responsibilities and comply with their specific job descriptions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Transit Operations Shift Manager will offer guidance and support to all Transit Operations personnel, aiming to enhance the reliability and safety of our transit services for passengers.
Core Values & Responsibilities
- The Dispatch Supervisor is a vital member of the extended local leadership team, providing 24/7 management presence to Transit Operations staff.
- Monitors and assesses daily Transit Operations activities and employee performance, including missed runs, on-time statistics, total work and pay hours, accident data, and other operational functions.
- Evaluates employee performance and administers disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Possesses knowledge of the entire Las Vegas RTC service area.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the roles of bus operators, road supervisors, terminal supervisors, and on-time performance monitors.
- Stays informed about special events occurring in the Las Vegas area.
- Understands and adheres to RTC's and Transdev's policies and procedures.
- Ensures performance indicators meet or exceed client and corporate expectations, minimizing liquidated damages and addressing failures promptly.
- Responsible for the implementation and support of critical operational technologies (VDS, Zonar, AVL, etc.), serving as a subject matter expert and recommending optimal applications of these tools in the operating environment.
- Manages the location's performance, recommends best practices, trains on technology solutions, and facilitates their implementation to enhance service quality and financial performance.
- Coordinates dispatching, in-service monitoring, and evaluations involved in daily transit operations.
- Completes necessary daily and/or weekly reports for the company and client to ensure service quality.
- Informs the Transit Operations Manager of potential operational risks.
- Ensures the company vision, values, and culture are understood, communicated, and promoted throughout operations.
- Maintains positive employee and labor relations through regular engagement with all operations staff, recognizing performance, providing coaching, and promoting overall job satisfaction.
- Performs all other duties as assigned and may assist with other areas based on location needs.
Minimum Education & Certifications Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Skilled in customer service delivery, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
- Working knowledge of ADA law and ADA service requirements.
- Dependable and proficient in time management, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends.
- Proficient in MS Office products, including MS Excel and MS Word, and Windows-based programs.
- Experience in a Transit Operations position is required.
