The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the immediate operational aspects of field activities, ensuring adherence to performance standards, managing service disruptions, and handling detour situations. This role includes supervising BOC Dispatchers, Road Supervisors, and Terminal Supervisors, ensuring they fulfill their responsibilities and comply with their specific job descriptions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Transit Operations Shift Manager will offer guidance and support to all personnel in Transit Operations, aiming to enhance the reliability and safety of our transit services for passengers.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a vital member of the local leadership team, providing 24/7 management support to Transit Operations staff.
- Monitor and assess daily Transit Operations activities and employee performance, including missed runs, on-time statistics, total work hours, accident data, and other operational metrics.
- Evaluate employee performance and implement disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the entire service area.
- Understand the roles of bus operators, road supervisors, terminal supervisors, and on-time performance monitors.
- Stay informed about special events occurring in the area.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of both the client and Transdev.
- Ensure performance indicators meet or exceed expectations, minimizing liquidated damages and addressing failures promptly.
- Support the implementation of essential operational technologies, serving as a subject matter expert and making recommendations for their effective use.
- Manage the location's performance, recommend best practices, train on technology solutions, and facilitate their implementation to enhance service quality and financial performance.
- Coordinate dispatching, in-service monitoring, and evaluations related to daily transit operations.
- Prepare necessary daily and weekly reports for the company and client to maintain service quality.
- Notify the Transit Operations Manager of potential operational risks.
- Promote the company’s vision, values, and culture throughout operations.
- Maintain positive employee and labor relations through regular engagement, performance recognition, coaching, and promoting job satisfaction.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and assist in other areas as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with a capacity to influence without authority.
- Working knowledge of ADA law and service requirements.
- Dependable with proficient time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines and multitasking.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Experience in a Transit Operations role is essential.
