Chicago, Illinois, United States Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science Full time

Position Overview

Join the Resuscitation Institute at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science as a vital member of our research team focused on critical life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest, hemorrhagic shock, and septic shock. This role emphasizes innovative therapeutic strategies and concurrent molecular biology investigations, particularly regarding the pivotal role of mitochondria in these severe health issues, alongside the creation of novel pharmacological solutions for resuscitation from cardiac arrest and other acute hemodynamic emergencies.

The molecular biology component of this position will primarily explore various aspects of mitochondrial functionality utilizing advanced techniques, including respirometry, western blotting, cell culture, and analytical assessments of high-energy nucleotides, as well as various methodologies to evaluate inflammatory markers in plasma and other biological fluids.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in basic scientific research, with hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques being highly desirable.

Furthermore, the selected individual is expected to engage in academic growth through grant writing and manuscript preparation while providing guidance and mentorship to medical students who rotate through the Resuscitation Institute.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage; paid parental leave; short-term and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; flexible spending accounts; and a 403(b) retirement plan featuring an 8% employer contribution after two years of service. RFUMS prioritizes employee wellness and work-life balance, offering full-time staff members three weeks of vacation, 15 sick days, and 13 holidays, plus two floating holidays, resulting in a minimum of 30 paid days off annually.

About Us

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science (RFU) is a graduate-level health sciences institution dedicated to serving the community through interprofessional education of health and biomedical professionals and the pursuit of knowledge aimed at enhancing wellness.
