Research Scientist for the Violence Prevention Project

We are seeking a Research Scientist for a project funded by the NIH that focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of a violence prevention initiative targeting 9th graders within public educational institutions. This program consists of a 15-session cognitive-behavioral intervention, facilitated by trained social workers in academic environments. Previous efficacy studies of this culturally adapted preventive approach for African American students have demonstrated positive outcomes.

Overview
The Research Scientist will collaborate with Dr. Robinson and Dr. Jason, providing support for various tasks related to the violence prevention initiative in public schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise research personnel and volunteers.
  • Manage partnerships with educational institutions for data gathering.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of research findings.
  • Contribute to research activities and manuscript preparation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a related social science research field.

Managerial Duties

  • The Research Scientist will oversee project staff and volunteers.

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency in advanced statistical techniques and data management.
  • Familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, RSiena, Mplus) is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Engagement in weekly project meetings.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to meet deadlines.
