Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Head of Preclinical Development to join our team at Third Rock Ventures. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing a mature pipeline of drug candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preclinical Development Leadership: Oversee all internal and external preclinical development activities, ensuring a scientific and objective approach.
  • Team Management: Lead a matrix team, ensuring the development and execution of preclinical development activities, including pharmacology, toxicology, and bioanalytics.
  • Strategic Oversight: Provide leadership, strategic oversight, resource management, and organizational framework to ensure timely decision-making on projects.
  • Talent Development: Identify, support, manage, and develop talent among team members, providing guidance, instruction, feedback, and ongoing coaching.
  • Collaboration and Representation: Contribute to the integration of Discovery Research, CMC, and clinical organizations, and professionally represent the organization externally in collaborations and conferences.

Requirements

  • Education: Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Immunology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 15+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, with a minimum of 8 years in one of the key predevelopment domains listed above.
  • Skills: Extensive knowledge of biotherapeutic research and development, thorough understanding of the tasks and deliverables required to mature assets through preclinical development, IND filing, and drug development.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-intensity, high-visibility environment.
  • Communication: Strong communication and ability to influence across all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
