Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Charge Nurses, Nursing Leadership, and Medical Assistant Leads to develop training and growth plans for the Medical Assistant team.
  • Adhere to and exemplify FHCSD Policies and Procedures to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Oversee the scheduling and performance metrics of Medical Assistants.
  • Supervise the workflow of the Medical Assistant team and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Engage with Medical Assistant Preceptors and Leads in the education and training of Medical Assistants as required, serving as a resource for other healthcare staff.
  • Assist Charge Nurses in maintaining quality standards consistently.
  • Work with Charge Nurses and clinic operations leadership to create action plans aimed at enhancing performance metrics.
  • Monitor staff performance to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure Medical Assistants operate within their designated scope of practice.
  • Complete the 90-day competency assessments for new Medical Assistants.
  • Ensure adherence to Vaccine Storage and Handling standards.
  • Maintain clinic audit standards through performance monitoring.
  • Participate actively in nursing staff meetings and huddles.
  • Facilitate ongoing training in AIDET, SOC, and best practices throughout the department.
  • Review and analyze the Medical Assistant performance reports.
  • Conduct orientation and annual performance evaluations for Medical Assistants under supervision.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to review patient care processes for quality assurance.
  • Attend nursing in-services for professional development.
Qualifications:

A diploma in Medical Assisting from an accredited program is required.

Current certification in CPR (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advanced Resuscitation Training is mandatory.

Ability to travel within San Diego County as needed, particularly to locations with limited public transportation access.

Experience and Skills:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and serve as a resource for Medical Assistants and leadership teams.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to supporting new Medical Assistants.
