POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Broadcast Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Washington DC area. This role is essential in ensuring the seamless operation of our extensive media and broadcast infrastructure within a fast-paced, live news setting. As a vital member of our Production Engineering team, you will collaborate with various technical departments, providing essential support to production staff, IT teams, and network operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and support the infrastructure for on-air broadcast production systems.
  • Oversee studio operations, including video walls, processing systems, and camera setups.
  • Supervise live control room production systems and their subsystems.
  • Manage infrastructure systems such as routers, intercoms, monitoring equipment, and audio suites.
  • Provide maintenance and technical support for remote locations.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues in a live production environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on subsystems, including software and hardware updates.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation and process benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with a team to work with cutting-edge production technologies.
  • Handle complex audio processing tasks and Audio-over-IP configurations.
  • Set up small-scale Dante audio networks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in broadcast production and live television.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of broadcast standards and video environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for broadcast equipment.
  • Familiarity with studio technologies and production control automation.
  • Proficient in MS Windows workstation and server platforms.
  • Experience with file-based workflows and Media Asset Management systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT/networking principles and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
  • Physical capability to handle equipment installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with manual and electric mechanical tools is essential.
