Position Overview

Join a dynamic team focused on geotechnical and tunneling projects, contributing to innovative solutions that address client needs.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate field observations and specialized inspections during subsurface investigations involving soils and rock.
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering design and analysis for various structures including bridges, buildings, tunnels, and retaining walls with minimal oversight from senior engineers.
  • Draft and prepare geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design documentation.
  • Oversee field observations and special inspections related to geotechnical construction activities.
  • Act as a task leader in the preparation of reports and contract documents.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, reviewing and checking their work.
  • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of geotechnical projects in the surrounding regions.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and familiarity with related fields such as Structures, Civil, Environmental, and Planning.
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience in the design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
  • Proficient in developing contract documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various schedules and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork as required.
  • Successful completion of WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Commitment to ethical decision-making and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering is preferred.
  • US PE registration or ability to obtain it in the near future.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) is preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is desirable.
