This Opportunity

Engage in significant projects with our Geotechnical and Tunneling Division and contribute to a dynamic organization that addresses our client's needs and resolves their challenges.

WSP is currently seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Consultant for our North Providence, RI office.

Your Contributions
  • Lead and coordinate field observations and specialized inspections of subsurface explorations in soils and rock
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering design and analyses for various structures including bridges, buildings, tunnels, underground facilities, and retaining walls with minimal oversight from senior engineers
  • Draft and prepare geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design documentation
  • Oversee field observations and specialized inspections during geotechnical construction
  • Act as task leaders in the preparation of reports and contract documentation
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and review their work
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and project stakeholders
  • Assist in the development and coordination of geotechnical projects in Rhode Island and nearby regions
Who You Are

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years of pertinent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering and familiarity with related fields (Structures, Civil, Environmental, and/or Planning)
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards
  • Experience in the design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects
  • Proficient in developing contract documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Adaptable to various schedules to meet business requirements and capable of prioritizing tasks while adjusting to changes in the work environment
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork
  • Must successfully complete WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Demonstrate responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
