REQUIREMENT- Must be a US Citizen and must pass a federal background review and drug screen

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a technical authority and consultant for the oversight of civil and structural systems, particularly focusing on steel and welding aspects for government construction initiatives.
  • Engage in advisory and evaluative roles concerning civil and structural system challenges or compliance issues.
  • Examine contract documents, including designs and specifications, to ensure constructability, compliance, and clarity.
  • Participate in all stages of the contract modification process, aiding in the development of scopes of work for RFPs, government estimates, contractor proposal evaluations, and modification documentation.
  • Support steel and welding inspections, quality assurance, contract management, and provide specialized technical knowledge.
  • Review and assess contractor submissions and plans for approval, including schedules, environmental considerations, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
  • Draft correspondence regarding contractor performance, Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other technical matters.
  • Prepare both partial and final payment assessments, including the calculation of pay item quantities, verification of materials, and completion percentages.
  • Demonstrate expertise in steel and steel connection design.
  • Possess experience in weld design and compliance review, including the evaluation of plans, submissions, RFIs, and field inspections.
  • Have experience in non-destructive inspection (NDI).
  • Hold AISC certification.
  • Monitor and document the progress of construction activities, advising the project team of any potential delays.
  • Engage in RFI and submittal reviews, coordinating with designers and technical experts to provide responses to contractors.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding HEMP Shielding, RF Shield, and ICD 705 construction requirements, collaborating with the Designer of Record for any necessary changes.
  • Maintain logs and data to support project management and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, ideally in Structural Engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineer license in the State of Wyoming.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience as a structural engineer on large-scale federal construction projects, preferably with USACE or the Department of Defense.
  • Experience in non-destructive inspection (NDI).
  • AISC certification.
  • Familiarity with RF Shield and ICD 705 construction standards.
  • Knowledge of High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) design and construction requirements is preferred.
