Position Overview

Martin/Martin, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to enhance our Structural Engineering Group. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with a variety of project types utilizing diverse structural materials. The selected candidate will gain invaluable experience in both the design of new structures and the assessment and retrofitting of existing buildings.

A typical week may involve:

  • Performing engineering calculations and developing detailed drawings.
  • Participating in Construction Administration tasks and conducting site visits.
  • Collaborating with owners, architects, and contractors to foster professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Our projects primarily span the Rocky Mountain region, but our national presence allows for involvement in projects across the country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize design software to prepare project Construction Documents.
  • Apply relevant building codes and material standards to support project design calculations under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Assist in Construction Administration tasks, including reviewing submittals, addressing RFIs, and performing field observations.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate project designs with clients and team members.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or a related field.
  • Successful completion of the FE Examination.
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Undergraduate degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Familiarity with building and material design codes.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoDesk REVIT, RAM, SAP, ETABS, RISA, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on client service and teamwork.
  • Experience in construction environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Grasshopper, Python, Dynamo, SQL, C#, C++, and VBA.
