We are seeking an experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team at PlayStation Global. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our trademark and copyright strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Trademark Clearance and Filing: Advise business teams on trademark clearance, selection, and filing strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Trademark Prosecution and Maintenance: Work with in-house paralegals and outside counsel to oversee the prosecution of trademark applications and maintenance of registrations.
- Trademark Oppositions and Disputes: Manage trademark oppositions and related disputes, and advise business teams as needed to ensure effective resolution.
- Trademark and Copyright Agreements: Draft, negotiate, and advise on trademark and copyright agreements, including licenses, assignments, co-existence agreements, and settlements.
- Copyright Protection and Domain Name Registration: Support copyright protection practices and domain name registration initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- IP Considerations and Education: Educate other members of the Legal department and the company on IP considerations by providing trainings and contributing to the development and publication of resources.
- Experience: At least 12 years of experience with trademark and copyright issues, with at least 2 years in a law firm.
- Qualifications: JD or LLM degree from a top law school; CA bar membership preferred. At a minimum, the candidate must be qualified for and quickly acquire a Registered In-House Counsel status in California and the willingness to maintain that status during employment.
- Practical Advice and Negotiation Skills: Experience providing practical advice on a wide variety of legal issues in a fast-paced environment, with a track record of drafting and negotiating agreements with an emphasis on trademarks and copyrights.
- Intellectual Property Litigation Experience: Experience with intellectual property litigation, with a strong understanding of trademark and copyright laws and regulations.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to educate others about intellectual property in engaging and impactful ways.
- Client Service and Attention to Detail: A dedication to client service and attention to detail, with a strong ability to work collaboratively with business teams and other stakeholders.
