Position Overview:
The role of Senior Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property involves providing expert legal guidance on trademark and copyright matters. This position requires collaboration with various business and legal teams to enhance the trademark and copyright initiatives across PlayStation's diverse product offerings. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic team focused on managing intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and domain names.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice to business units regarding trademark clearance, selection, and filing strategies.
- Oversee the prosecution of trademark applications and the maintenance of registrations in collaboration with in-house paralegals and external legal counsel.
- Manage trademark oppositions and related disputes, offering guidance to business teams as necessary.
- Draft, negotiate, and provide counsel on trademark and copyright agreements, including licenses, assignments, and settlements.
- Support practices for copyright protection and initiatives for domain name registration.
- Advise on intellectual property considerations in transactions and manage post-closing integration.
- Educate colleagues and the broader organization on intellectual property issues through training sessions and the development of resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in trademark and copyright law, including at least 2 years in a law firm setting.
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from a top-tier law school; California bar membership is preferred. Candidates must be eligible for and willing to obtain Registered In-House Counsel status in California.
