This role is a chance to significantly impact Leidos' efforts in supporting the Space Force mission. The Business Development Director will play a crucial role in spotting new opportunities, managing program captures, leading proposal efforts, and engaging in strategic planning. The successful candidate will collaborate with DAS and senior Leidos leadership to execute growth strategies, conduct program reviews, and build robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

We seek a business development professional with a proven track record in the Space Industry and established relationships within the Space Force. Ideal candidates will have experience with full life cycle programs (programs of record experience preferred). Key responsibilities include managing customer relationships, driving business growth activities, and participating in marketing events such as trade shows that align with capture objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

The Business Development lead will be instrumental in cultivating a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities focused on the Space Force, ensuring alignment with our near and long-term business strategies to foster revenue growth. This position requires a high level of responsibility, significant customer relationship management, and superior communication skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize against strategic goals, discern operational roadmap needs, understand customer gaps that Leidos can address, and develop innovative solutions that support our objectives in this market. This role involves significant relationship building, understanding of the space program landscape, and an ability to navigate the complexities of customer missions. Expect approximately 25% travel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience with 15+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 12+ years of experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills demonstrated through presentations, technical documentation, and marketing collateral.
  • A strong business and technical vision.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience identifying and qualifying significant business development programs (>$150M Total Contract Value), focusing on opportunity qualification and shaping.
  • Proven capabilities in all aspects of business development, including customer relationship development and capture strategy.
  • Extensive experience in business development roles related to the US Space Force.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to gain organizational support, operate independently, and establish strong relationships with technical teams, division managers, and peers.
  • Experience in managing marketing and proposal budgets.
  • Comfortable engaging with all levels of organization, including executive leadership.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $148,850.00 - $269,075.00, contingent on qualifications and experience.
